Nigeria has arrested no fewer than 8,634 suspected drug traffickers from January to August 2021- NDLEA

According to the chairman and chief executive officer of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Buba Marwa, Nigeria has arrested no fewer than 8,634 suspected drug traffickers from January to August 2021.

Marwa told the Human Rights, Humanitarian Affairs and Social Committee of the UN General Assembly in New York yesterday that NDLEA also made seizures of more than100 billion naira in drugs and cash over the period.

He however noted that the unexpected emergence of COVID -19 pandemic, had further accentuated the scourge of drug trafficking and related crimes globally.
